Managerial Skills

Question: Discuss about theManagerial Skills. Answer: Introduction: The Learning Contract Aim For the purpose of developing and delivering effective feedbacks to the members of my tutorial group, I have selected the subject of leadership. I believe that leadership is a vast area, which requires an increasing attention by the leaders to develop the ability to understand its numerous key concepts. It is a formidable fact that the recent day business environment is experiencing the dynamic change regarding both technologic advancement and complex scenario competition (Panagopoulos Ogilvie, 2015). Therefore, the businesses of the modern day are required to identify the external as well as internal opportunities rapidly for developing a way to capture them accordingly. The overall scenario drives these businesses to exist no longer in the private domain of the industrial leaders, as the overall situation is a process of survival for both the business and its employees (Cameron, 2012). Due to the increasing involvement of competition and other important factors associated with the global business environment, the contemporary leaders should need to possess certain characteristics to capture the market opportunities while gaining the ability to survive in the identified market. Hence, the success of the business relies heavily on the ability and skills of the leaders, as the companies must learn to thrive for gaining the top market position (Goetsch Davis, 2014). Apart from that, the leaders must need to learn how to adapt to the changing situations of the business world. The below timetable will explore the critical leadership skills with the estimated time required for their acquisition. Key Leadership Skill Timeframe for Achievement Ability to inspire and motivate others 4 6 weeks Display of high integrity and honesty in the commitment 4 weeks Availability of skills regarding problem solving and effective analysis 8 weeks Powerful communication and ability to develop innovative thinking 8 10 weeks The Rationale The rationale behind selecting the topic is based on its useful contribution in the sphere of management. With the basic application of leadership, the overall functional efficiency of the organization meets the possible enhancement. The performance of the group improves to the certain extent supporting it to achieve the key goals and objectives (Huber, 2013). The selection of leadership is based on justifying the fundamental concepts associated with factors mentioned below. Motivating the action I have acknowledged that a leader plays the incentive roles in the working flow of the organization. Leaders are responsible for providing economic and non-economic rewards and benefits to the employees and thereby motivating the workforce to increase their commitments with the organization. Offering guidance A leader not only administers or instructs their subordinates, but also they provide useful guidance to them for improving the individual performance (Grant, 2016). Here guidance refers providing proper instructions to the workforce for undertaking the right measures to ensure the smooth and efficient accomplishment of their duties. Building Morale Morale denotes the willingness of the employee to cooperate other for the accomplishment of various organizational tasks while promoting an environment with the involvement of increasing level of trust and confidence. Leadership is the factor that is responsible for boosting the morale and creating the full cooperative environment for supporting the enterprises to achieve their goals. Developing work environment Developing an efficient work environment is always a vital requirement for the business to support the soundness in the operations and stability regarding the growth. The need of responsible management is there to ensure the achievement of the identified factor (Swayne, L. E., Duncan, W. J., Ginter, 2012). Effective leadership is the way to shape up the mindset of the leaders for helping them developing the suitable work environment for the other employees and subordinates. Consideration From the context of the modern day challenging business environment, three primary strategies are identified for ensuring the sustainability to the firm. These strategies are highlighted in the below table with their application in the pre and post-test basis. Leadership Strategy Pre-test Measures Challenging Areas Post-test Measures Determining strategic direction Developing suitable vision, mission, and value chain of the business Challenges in maintaining quality and budget Technologic adaptation and engagement of highly skilled human resources in the production process Exploring core competence Ensuring the availability of resources and developing capabilities to create competitive edge over the other market competitors Lack of efforts from the senior management responsible for maintaining core competence of the firm The senior management requires investing more time to investigate the core business functions in the time to time basis Sustaining an effective organizational culture Encouraging the entrepreneurial activities while continuously aiming to build robust and healthy culture supporting the needs of the employees It is not possible to manage culture in the same way, for an example, building cultural values in the production process The senior management perhaps needs to play most important roles in influencing the nature of organizations culture The Action Plan Step Week Key Concept Associated Action Step Expected Outcome Actual Outcome 1 1 Join Toastmasters Working on verbal communication Learning to express me better through the group discussion in front of large audience Development of communicative working environment and improvement of process chain 2 1 Fostering the participation of each employee Initiating the delegation of responsibilities more effectively Learning to include others while completing a project other than accomplishing all by myself The employee relationship improved to finish the projects within the proposed deadlines. However, the possible conflicts are observed among the employees over a certain project 3 1 Working on conflict resolution Firstly, the actions and procedures must be developed to be direct and open. Secondly, the conflict resolution course must need to be involved Learning to disagree with others for coming into the viable conclusion or taking useful decision Resisting the possibility of giving up and giving in every time to reduce time required during the process Conflicts are resolved within the organization; however, a certain level of consent is not achieved from all the level of employees. Every employee possesses different mindset often inflicting the possibility of conflicts in the internal organizational environment. References Cameron, K.
